New gotoAndLearn() Tutorial on AIR Development in Flash

I just finished uploading the latest tutorial at gotoAndLearn() named Developing AIR in Flash. In this tutorial I show you how to download and install the new AIR update for Flash CS3 Professional. From there I go through a basic example of how to create a video player application. It is very basic but will be a great start for Flash developers who are looking to get into AIR development. Look for more AIR tutorials coming soon!

Video from On AIR Bus Tour Leg 3

Below is a video of some clips that I shot during the 3rd and final leg of the On AIR Bus Tour. This definitely doesn’t have the production value of my last video because I am a little under the weather at the moment. Look for a prank on Andre Charland at the end. This would be the first of many that would be pulled during the 3rd leg.

onAIR Bus Tour NYC to Toronto

We had a blast presenting the AIR camp yesterday in New York. The venue was in a converted fire house and the there was a really good vibe all day. Today we rolled into Toronto to get ready for tomorrow’s event. Getting ready basically means eating room service and playing Halo 3. We did get to stop at Niagra Falls on the way up which was cool. I remember it being much bigger when I was a child.

I plan on making a video of the third leg after I get home but I have grabbed some screenshots that you can check out in the meantime. I won’t be able to make it to the Minneapolis event unfortunately but I will be back in Chicago for MAX.

I’m Presenting at Flash on the Beach!

I’m excited to announce that I will presenting a session at Flash on the Beach in November. This will be the first time that I have been back to the motherland since I was a child so I’m really excited about it. My session is titled Adobe AIR for Interactive Designers and it will focus on the visual side of things including how to build AIR applications from Flash CS3 Professional rather than in Flex. I’ll be showing a lot of examples and it should be informative for developers as well as designers. Check out the session abstract and then go an register for the conference if you haven’t already!

gotoAndLearn() Relaunches with Papervision3D Tutorial

I have just re-launched the gotoAndLearn() tutorial player with a new tutorial on using Papervision3D. The player is still pretty primitive compared to the old version and I plan on adding many more features to it. I wanted to get it out there as soon as possible though so I decided to put it up in its “unfinished” form.

The Papervision3D tutorial goes over the basics of how to download the class packages as well as how to create a basic 3D scene inside of Flash CS3. This should be a good beginner tutorial for those who have wanted to start playing with these amazing classes.

You can download the example files for this tutorial here. I will be adding a link to these on the player in the next couple of days.
