Object-Oriented Scrollbar Part 2 Video Tutorial
I just finished uploading part two of the object-oriented scrollbar tutorial to gotoAndLearn(). In this video I show you how to take the timeline code created in part one and abstract it into several reusable ActionScript 3 classes. I also go over the basics of creating and dispatching custom events which is a key skill to learn if you want to take your skills to the next level.

New Object-Oriented Scrollbar Video Tutorial
I just finished uploading a new tutorial to gotoAndLearn() which shows you how to create a smooth-scrolling scrollbar prototype on the timeline. This is part one of a two-part series. The next tutorial will take this timeline prototype and abstract it into several ActionScript 3 classes. This type of animated scroll behavior is very popular on Flash sites nowadays and is a good tool to have in your arsenal.

New Video Tutorial on Ethical SWF Decompiling
I just finished uploading a new tutorial to gotoAndLearn() which shows you how to use SWF decompiling as a learning tool to see what Flash is doing behind the scenes to your timeline code. Some people think that the words ethical and decompiling have no business being used together in the same sentence but I believe otherwise. It is obvious that you should not steal assets or code directly and if you do, you will more than likely get caught and be exposed. But decompiling your own work can be a great way to recover lost FLA files. I have saved my ass numerous times using decompilers! There are many good decompilers out there but my favorite is Sothink and it is the one I demo in this tutorial.

AIRTube Application Updated
| I have just uploaded a new version of the AIRTube application. There was an issue with playing the downloaded video which was due to me not closing the FileStream object. Thanks Grant for letting me know! I have also changed it so that it names the video based on the video ID. It doesn’t have the video name in the filename but at least it won’t overwrite other files that you have downloaded.
It would be optimal if I implemented automatic updates for this application but unfortunately I don’t have the time to do it. Hopefully YouTube won’t change their API anytime soon. Lee |

Video of AIR Tour Europe – Leg 1
Due to various reasons I didn’t get much good video footage while I was in Europe. The other tour members have uploaded a lot of good stuff to YouTube though. What I did manage to get I have edited together into a video which you can watch below. I promise to get some better stuff on leg 2 which starts in June. Enjoy!
