Flash, TV Themes, and Proximity

I just create a fun little app that allows you to hear the theme music for a bunch of different 80′s sitcoms. The volume of each theme is controlled by the proximity of your mouse to the thumbnail. You can listen to some interesting mixes between themes by going halfway between 2 or 3 shows.

I am going to be uploading a tutorial called “Flash Math 2″ to gotAndLearn() tongiht which shows how to accomplish this type of thing. I hope you enjoy it!.

On a side note, the lower right hand corner doesn’t have a show because of the “8 sounds at a time” issue in Flash. Is there any way around this. I want to have the themes all playing all the time so that there is a constant flow. Any ideas?

Thanks!
Lee

If you had a different theme in right\left channels, would setTransform allow you to deal with a total of 16?

Hmm that’s an interesting idea. Let me give that a shot. But I think its just a case of having 8 different sounds playing. I would doubt that its 8 per channel.

    Thanks for the idea Mark,

if you did this with songs that were beatmatched – it could become a very very interesting tool for DJs… ( they are usually limited to 2 songs at a time …)

I am looking to create something where “mouse proximity” is not what controls volume but instead proximity in space. In other words, as you explore a site, there are different objects with associated sounds, as you get further away from those objects, their volume decreases.

    Any tips?
