Thanks to 2Advanced, the site is now back up! Last night I uploaded a new tutorial called Animating with Fuse which shows how to install and use this amazing new animation system. This is part one of two and the next one will show how to use it to create some complex motion graphics. I can’t state this enough, Fuse rocks! Click on the image below to check it out.

PS – I’m writing this post sitting in the Phoenix airport. If you are ever travelling through here the SSID is SKYHARBOR PUBLIC WAN.

waiting for the next one about Fuse .
THANK YOU !!!!!
Hi lee,
I saw your tutorial. Very interessing and original. There is not a lot of people who risk themselves to use a flash engine. As all the time, that a great tutorial.
I have got one question. What’s happening about the ancien tutorial about video integration. I am a real bad developper for integrating Video in flash and your tutorial could really help me.

At first glance Fuse looks functional, but terrible out of an OOP point of view. Are there any other alternatives?
Thanks a lot for this first tutorial, I am impatient to see the continuation. See you soon.
Grate tutorial i’m from argentina/MAr del Plata, thanks for spend time to share your scripting.
They really should change the way the Zigo engine works before incorportaing it into something like this. Why the hell would you what every single MovieClip in your movie to have this extra functionality.
There are now lots of post around the web stating ‘if you need to animate with ActionScript you need Fuse’, yet its use of prototyping is nasty. Personally I would advise people against using it and disaggree with the statement ‘Fuse rocks’ for that reason.
Well if I’m not mistaken, it only does that if you use the ZigoEngine.simpleSetup(Shortcuts) method. Like I mentioned in the tutorial, I recommend against using that for the very reason you state. If you use Fuse with the Array/Object syntax, it doesn’t mess with the MovieClip class. But let me double-check that fact.
Yes it does not extend the MovieClip class if you use the new Fuse syntax. The ZigoEngine is still included for people who are used to it or like using the old method. But I agree completely that prototypes are a bad thing. But the regular Fuse system is by far the best package I have ever seen for doing large blocks of complex animations and timing.
Yes, if you use that or ZigoEngine.register(Shortcuts), it does prototypes. That’s one of the things that makes it different from the the original, is that you don’t HAVE to use any prototypes to use the engine.
But the ZigoEngine is still used to do tweening, even with the Fuse syntax. So using Fuse to tween, you’re using the ZE as well.
Awesome tutorial, love the skyharbor airport..was just there a few months ago.
Thanks for the info!
thanks for take time for the people how want to begin with flash, your tutorial is one of the best.
What happens with gotoandlearn.com? I just can’t see any of the tutorials on the website
greetings all,
I’m abit of a new bee to action script 2.0 animation. Loving the learning curve tho. Is there any other tutorials to the fuse kit?
I saw your tutorial. Very interessing and original.
