The new version of Ultrashock went live today and I was down in Costa Mesa with the team. This site is one of the best examples of Flex that I have seen. While I was down there I did a quick interview with Patrick Miko who is the co-founder and CEO of Ultrashock. Beats by Trioptic of Sound Scientists. Enjoy!

I have to say I love the new USv2. It’s a fantastically realised and executed resource site. Massive kudos to Patrick, Peter and their team.
when i load the site, i immediately get a couple of unhandled IO errors.
Nice looking site!
Very cool flex intergration.
Will be looking at the community more in the future.
@kathryn
Don’t forget the site is still in beta so you will probably run into one or two issues like that, the dev team are still working hard to get everything sorted out. You could always uninstall the debug Flash Player for now (I guess you are using it).
Cool video!!
I don’t know a lot about Ultrashock …but from what I see right now they have a great Flex site
I like the site too!
But i have to say, the buttons looks a bit like the FI buttons often looks

Patrick, is the best innovator of bringing the high-end hollywood work down to the street level. This is a dream come true for all designers, because they have the capability to exploit these tools and create even greater line of work.
Go Ultrashock!
First word that comes to mind: “Slick”
Very well executed
Thank you for the interview opportunity Lee, and great work putting it together, but next time see if you can touch up the bags under my eyes a little (2 1/2 days with no sleep will do that to ya)!
I was so tired I forgot to thank Dean C. who worked long hours with Peter skinning the forums. Dean is one of the most dedicated and professional coders we have worked with to date.
It’s great to finally have the new site online, and we look forward to making it even better so keep checking back!
Regards, Miko
Only the beta is amazing enough, I am very much looking forward to the final version.
thanks for the great gift Miko, all the waiting are worthy and well paid.
hi lee -
are you still in costa mesa – i am in costa mesa.
i’ll buy you lunch.
Great interview — also cool to see Miko in person.
Thanks!
Nice site similar idea to http://www.flashden.com
Does not work in Opera, Mac.
Technically it’s good but it’s way too clunky and unusable. Not a site I would come back to very often. I preferred the old one
Its brilliant but its so slow!
Interesting site.
But Blogs and other text based content……
Why not just HTML. It is useless to a search engine. And thats one of the main points for bloging. So people can read it. People mainly find blog info via search engins!!!
Otherwise not bad. But as commented, it does feel a bit clunky, but then again, I am probably a long way fro the servers being in Australia.
Latency makes a big diff to sites like this. (Even HTML ones)

Hi,
I much prefered the old site, this feels like one of those times that people have done something because they can, not because they should. As an example of flex – very nice – as the resource site for tutorials, forums and swfs……. it’s now lacking. Mind you this could be because I’m not used to it yet.
Tim
Can anyone shed any light onthis wensite? How it was constructed etc?
