This has to be the best AIR application that I’ve created. It isn’t the flashiest but it is highly useful and I was able to build it in a few hours during the Brussels AIR tour event. This highlights what is so powerful about AIR. I promised the full source code for the application and today and I’m delivering on that promise.
The source code is simply an FLA file since I built it entirely in Flash CS3. No Flex needed here!
Hope you find it useful,
Lee

You’ve done it again.
I feel like I owe you money. I am trying to make the argument for converting our widgets to air, it’s tough without a lot of real world succes stories, but this definitely helps.
Thanks Lee!
you are the gratest, where would I be without u?
Ps- playing the video does not work, is it just me?
Cool. Might just have to have a look at this.
Brilliant as always! Ta.

Hi Lee,
Thanks for this. I saw you present it at the London on AIR event. Yeah, it downloads the FLV to the desktop and creates the file, but it doesn’t play the video in the dropdown window. Weird, ‘cos it worked for you on stage.
Cheers,
Adrian
Great Air app Lee!
Have you thought about using a variant of this to display your tutorials. Could be the perfect way to follow along without having a whole browser open and constantly flicking between it and Flash.
Was at London onAir. Your session was kick ass, or at least the YouTube girl cat fight was!
Wow, im really impressed. Awesome coding lee!
Seems I’m missing some of the classes that are being imported.
Can you post these classes as well, or provide a link to where I can download them.
Many thanks Lee!
Kind regards,
M.
Thx Lee for Sharing the Source. Its great fo learning.
AWESOME! Thanks so much, i always wondered why this didn’t exist before?
Thanks a lot Lee.

The video does not play for me either – once it has finished downloading. Windows XP.

is down!!! help god were going to die
Thank you for the sources. I’ll try the PSP stuff now.
Same here … video downloads but no play.
Under Tiger 10.4.11 the Air Installer keeps running. The app works fine for me, downloaded fine and I can watch it no problem. I just didn’t like have to reboot to kill the installer.
Great app, Lee!
If you’re having trouble on Vista (or XP), adding an fs.close() right after fs.writeBytes() in the itsDone() method seems to take care of the video-not-playing problem.
Thanks for the Air application…….three cheers to you
good appilication, i will learn air. thanks this sample.
this is brilliant. sweet code and extremely well written. good job Lee, this really helps. thanks!
Very nice and usefull Air application, really helpfull for developers!
Thanks!
I keep trying to get this source code to work, but I keep getting this Violation
*** Security Sandbox Violation ***
SecurityDomain ‘http://s.ytimg.com/yt/swf/cps-vfl62057.swf’ tried to access incompatible context ‘app:/AIRTube.swf
I can’t fiqure out what is happening and I haven’t changed the source code yet. It will compile and everything fine, but when I test it and I put a URL in, it will say “Invalid URL” then I got to the “Output” panel and I get the Violation. Any Help
Hello!
I have been looking around for an *.fla source file of a movie of a hand flipping a coin. Does anyone know where one can find something like this?
Thanks!
~nick
Lee. I am sure many Flash enthusiasts (including me) would not be where they were today if not for your continued distribution of knowledge. Many thanks!
