Download Tour de Flex right now!

At Adobe MAX the evangelism team released a new AIR application that is essentially Flex documentation on steroids. Greg Wilson, James Ward, and Christophe Coenraets are the ones responsible for putting this together. I don’t really use the Flex framework that much and even I’m excited about this application. It lets you see live examples of every component and piece of the framework. It also includes a ton of stuff that will be useful to non-Flex coders as well like AIR examples and how to connect to a whole slew of web services like Flickr and Twitter. You’ll even see me pop-up in the example on using transparent video :-) .

I do a lot of desktop programming, and love Flash, but haven’t touched Flex yet. I’ve always wondered if it’s possible to use Flex components together with Flash, is it? if so, how?.

  9. corbanb says:

I really love this application. Its a great starter kit for anyone wanting to get into Flex/AIR development.

One thing I’d REALLY like to see Adobe do is the same thing for Flash! It seems like the focus for stuff like this has really been towards Flex but what people don’t realize is that you can do the same stuff with Flash. I really hope Adobe takes the time to develop more examples like these for Flash.

  10. Buffalo says:

Who gives a flying crap about Flex? Code in the Flash IDE like real men do. Thanks.

This file is really great. Unfortunately It was written in English. Some people in my country (I’m Vietnamese) really want to learn Flex but their English is not good enough to understand the content of this file. I have the idea of translating this file into Vietnamese but I don’t know how to do it. Can anyone help me? (as I know, I need the source file of “Tour de Flex” to be able to translate)
